    Solar Installers vs Residential Electricians

    Do Electricians Install Solar Panels?

When it comes time to install a new solar energy system in your home, there are two main options: solar installers and residential electricians. So, which is the best choice for you? While you might immediately jump for the former, the question is more complex than it might seem.

Why is it more complex? Because many residential electricians are also solar installers. The main difference between the two is that electricians are trained and licensed to work with all types of electrical systems, while solar installers are specifically trained to work with solar panels.

In other words, an electrician can do everything a solar installer can do, but a solar installer can’t necessarily do everything an electrician can. For example, if you have an electrical problem in your home that has nothing to do with your solar panels, you’ll need to call an electrician.

The other main difference is that electricians are usually more expensive than solar installers. This is because electricians have more training and experience, and they can offer a wider range of services. However, they also generally offer better value for money.

So, if you’re considering getting solar panels installed, you may be wondering whether you should hire a solar installer or an electrician. The answer depends on your needs and budget. If you just want solar panels installed, then a solar installer may be the best option.

Benefits of an Electrician Who Installs Solar

As you can imagine, solar installers are very good at their jobs. Yet, they don’t have the same breadth of experience and knowledge that a qualified electrician has. Here are some benefits of working with an electrician who installs solar:

    • They will be able to help you with the design of your system.
    • They can ensure that your system is installed properly and to code.
    • They can help you troubleshoot any problems that you may have with your system.
    • They can provide maintenance and repairs for your system.
    • They can help you with any electrical work that needs to be done in conjunction with your solar installation.

This last point is perhaps the most important of all – solar installers are not always able to do electrical work, but electricians are. This means that if you have any problems with your solar system, an electrician will be able to help you out, whereas a solar installer may not be able to.

For example, you might have solar panels installed as part of larger renovation work. In this case, an electrician would be able to help with the wiring of the solar panels, and any other electrical work that needs to be done. Solar installers, on the other hand, would only be able to help with the installation of the panels themselves.

    Benefits of Solar Panels

To finish, here are some benefits of solar panels themselves (in case you’re unaware!). Solar panels can:

    • Save you money on your electricity bills
    • Reduce your carbon footprint
    • Increase the value of your home

We hope this article has helped you understand the difference between solar installers and electricians. As you can see, an electrician is generally the better option when it comes to solar panels. They are more qualified and experienced, meaning that they are more likely to do a good job and assist other electrical areas of your home!
